Demara ("Mari") B. Bennett, Psy.D.,Licensed Clinical Psychologist, established her practice, Florida Psychological Specialists, LLC, in her hometown of Satellite Beach.  She has extensive experience providing psychological and neuropsychological evaluation across the lifespan and specializes in the assessment and differential diagnosis of children from infancy through adolescence.  She returned to the area to establish her practice in 2007 after maintaining a busy practice for many years as a child psychologist with a behavioral health clinic in northern Wisconsin and providing psychological services for Florida State University's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities and FIRST WORDS Project.  She is an Assistant Professor with Florida Institute of Technology's School of Psychology and at the Scott Center for Autism Treatment where she is the Director of the Family Learning Program, Clinical Supervisor of the Advanced Child Assessment Team and teaches both Child Advocacy courses.  

Dr. Bennett earned her Doctorate in Psychology, Clinical Specialization, from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, in 1994 and has practiced as a licensed psychologist for over 25 years. Professional interests include child and family psychology with specialization in differential diagnosis of pediatric mental health concerns and pediatric neuropsychology; and child maltreatment and trauma. She has extensive experience providing clinical supervision and training for predoctoral, masters-level, and postdoctoral trainees; expert legal consultation; and clinical consultation within multidisciplinary teams for community agencies.

Professional Interests and Memberships 

Professional interests include psychological, neuropsychological, and developmental evaluation with specialization in evaluation of children from infancy through adolescence and treatment and promotion of wellness through individual and family psychotherapy. Dr. Bennett has extensive experience providing diagnostic clarification and treatment of complicated developmental, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral concerns.  Areas of professional interest also include child maltreatment and trauma, including provision of Dependency evaluations for maltreatment children and parental fitness evaluations for their caregivers.


When Dr. Bennett is not providing professional services, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and an active lifestyle including boating, offshore fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, biking, downhill skiing, hiking, cornhole, Netflix bingeing, and reading.
